Be Yourself . . .

Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything alone.
Be generous to those who need your help.
Be frugal with what you need yourself.
Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.
Be foolish enough to believe in miracles.
Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.
Be a leader when you see a path of others have missed.
Be a follower when you are shrouded in the midst of uncertainty.
Be the first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be the last to criticize a colleague who fails.
Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not stumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going to the wrong way.
Be loving to those who love you.
Be loving to those who do not love you, and they may change.
Above all, be yourself.

Successful People Don't Find Time -- They Make Time

The following are excerpts from Chapter 15, "Successful People Don't Find Time -- They Make Time," of one of my most frequented books, Life's Greatest Lessons by Hal Urban.

Time if life. It is irreversible and irreplaceable. To waste your time is to waste your life, but to master your time is to master your life and make the most of it."
- Alan Lakein

The most important step is to develop a new way of looking at time. We need to view it as a resource. It's always there, but like any other resource, it can be put to good use or it can be wasted. But there's one big difference between this resource and others: we can't save it, store it up, stockpile it, or hoard it. We can't turn it on or off, and we can't replace it. We're forced to spend it, minute by minute.  And once we spend it, we can't retrieve it.  That's why the way we spend our time is the way we measure the quality of our lives. Time is life.

There are some distance differences between the way winners and losers view time, talk about time, and use time. Here are some examples:

Losers:
They kill time.
They waste time.
They lose time.
They let time slip away.
They take time for granted.
They squander time.
They can't find time.

Winners:
They use time.
They spend time wisely.
They value time.
They organize their time.
They treasure time.
They schedule time.
They make time.

Four Keys to Mastering Your Time and Your Life:
1. Plan your day
2. Make appointments with yourself
3. Use the little-bit-at-a-time approach
4. Know your most productive time

Success is the result of hard work
done little by little, day by day.

Reaching Your Dream Takes Courage

- Caroline Kent

Courage is admitting that you're afraid and facing that fear directly. It's being strong enough to ask for help and humble enough to accept it.

Courage is standing up for what you believe in without worrying about the opinions of others. It's following your own heart, living your own life, and settling for nothing less than the best for yourself.

Courage is daring to take a first step, a big leap, or a different path. It's attempting to do something that no one has done before and all others thought impossible.

Courage is keeping heart in the face of disappointment and looking at defeat not as an end but as a new beginning. It's believing that things will ultimately get better even as they get worse.

Courage is being responsible for your own actions and admitting your own mistakes without placing blame on others. It's relying not on others for your success, but on your own skills and efforts.

Courage is refusing to quit even when you're intimidated by impossibility. It's choosing a goal, sticking with it, and finding solutions to the problems.

Courage is thinking big, aiming high, and shooting far. It's taking a dream and doing anything, risking everything, and stopping at nothing to it make it a reality.

The Paradoxical Commandments

by Dr. Kent M. Keith
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

When life leaves you hanging . . . DON'T QUIT

Value knowing when to walk away.

Xhaust all possibilities.
You can, if you think you can.

If there is a will there is a way

If there is a will,

          There is a way –

Goals are just dreams

          With feet on them.

If you replace the wishbone

          With the backbone,

You will achieve

          What you believe.

People may doubt

          What you say,

But they will always believe

          What you do.

If you can dream it,

          You can do it,

But when you listen

          To the wrong voice,

You make the wrong choice.

Remember, if you fail to plan,

          Then you plan to fail,
Yet if you are not

          Willing to fail,

Then you will never be

          Responsible for success.

It is not over till you win.

Winners and Losers

A winner always starts from present

A loser always thinks of past failures

A winner controls his own attitude

A loser lets his attitude to be determined by others

A winner says it is difficult but possible

A loser says it is possible but difficult

A simplest formula for success

Follow the winners and avoid the losers.

Being with a winner makes you a winner.

For a Wonderful Life

Believe in yourself

But don’t be overconfident;

Be satisfied

          But know that you can always improve;

Accept love graciously

          And always be ready to give more;

Be modest in victory and success

          And courageous in defeat;

Give comfort and security to others

          And you will always receive it in return;

Be glad . . . just for being

          The wonderful person that you are.

To Live a Meaningful Life . . .

To laugh often and much,

To win the respect of intelligent people

And the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics

And induce the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in other;

To leave the world a bit better,

Whether by a healthy child,

A garden patch,

Or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one like has breathed easier

Because you lived. This is to have succeeded.

To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greatest achievements of the future.

Resolutions For Today

-Kenneth L. Holmes

JUST FOR TODAY I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once.

JUST FOR TODAY I will be happy. After all, most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

JUST FOR TODAY I will look as agreeable as I can, dress becomingly, speak low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, and not try to improve anybody except myself.

JUST FOR TODAY I will adjust myself to what is; and I will not keep trying to adjust everything else to my own desires.

JUST FOR TODAY I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do-just for exercise. And today, if my feelings are hurt, I will not show it to anyone.

JUST FOR TODAY I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

JUST FOR TODAY I will have a programme. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

JUST FOR TODAY I will have a quiet half-hour all by myself for meditation and relaxation.

JUST FOR TODAY I will be unafraid.
